Chaitra month is auspicious for fulfilling the function of sacred thread ceremony or Upanayana. On the last day of the fifteenth, devotees are worshipping all Gods together. Sun God is worshipping on the seventh day and ninth day is the day of Goddess Durga. ![]() On the fifth day, devotees worship Naga devatas and Lord Subramanya is devoted on the sixth day. Devotees are praying to Lord Ganesha on the fourth day of Chaitra month. On the second day, devotees are worshipping Lord Shiva and Goddess Gouri. On the first day of the month, devotees worship Lord Brahma. Therefore the whole country celebrates new year on this day by using various names such as Vishu in Kerala, Gudi padva in Maharashtra, Ugadi in Telugu and Kannada etc.Each day of Chaitra month is dedicated to different Gods and Goddess in various places. Another important speciality of Chaitra month is that Lord Brahma started to create the universe on this day. Mainly Chaitra month can experience the arrival of the spring season. According to the Hindu calendar, Chaitra month is considered as the first month of the year.
